Today was the Amnesty Night! It didn't go as planned but I feel as if we had made our intention and message clear. I just wish that more people had come. This implies that next time we would have to work on our advertisement strategies more. As with our video, we made it! With Daria's wonderful editing skills, it came out to be presentable. We also added an excerpt from a Vice video describing the situation in Chechnya. The video was quite moving to the point where I saw some lingering tears in their eyes.

The Amnesty Night is coming up and I have yet to prepare the videos with Daria and Wiktoria. We will start filming tomorrow where we will video tape individuals in the school their opinions on the matter. I will prepare questions tonight for tomorrow and Daria will be in charge of compiling the video together. In addition, Wiktoria and I will also prepare facts to be put in the video about Amnesty International, the situation and our project.

Yesterday was our book/bake sale and I have to admit that it was quite successful. Overall, we sold 28 books for 10zl, 26 books for 5zl and 3 for 15zl. This has been summed up to 611.40zl including the baked goods. Although I wasn't able to participate and help out in the sale, I baked a cake for which pieces were sold for 4zl each. A problem which occurred was that some primary teachers were not aware of the sale, even though the posters were hung up for a week. This means that our communication must be improved. At the bake sale, we also gave a free sticker of Amnesty with every purchase.
Other problems that we have encountered these past few weeks were the posters. During the first day of hanging up the posters, some were vandalized and even taken down. An email was written to Nicole by Mr. Stan.
However, the situation was all cleared up, saying that we are fighting for human rights, not necessarily for LGBT. But still, many of us remain shocked at Mr. Stan's response as our school is international, meaning that we should promote this movement even more.
Now with our money collected, we will be using it for flyers for which I will be later handing

As my service project for 2017/18, I am participating in Amnesty International. As a group, we have first chosen the project Gays in Chechnya, in which our aim is to increase awareness throughout a culture where people's perspectives are limited and often narrow-minded.
This project should last until December, and the second half of the year will be spent on another project which hasn't been chosen yet, however, I'd like to raise awareness on the topic of the situation in Syria.
Last week we have already chosen our roles, mine which are:

Last week we have already chosen our roles, mine which are:
- Film Manager - Working with Victoria and Daria, we will together create a creative 3/4 minute of a clip that will include information about the organization and our first project. An idea is to show some clips of strangers and asking them questions about their views on the situation. Some clips can even show the actual abuse that is happening.
- Flyers - Along with Kristina, I will be giving out flyers to people in several locations to spread awareness
- Bake/Book sale - I will contribute to the bake sale, helping out with sales as well as providing baked goods.
A great project. It would be interesting to read your thoughts on the ethical issues that have come up around displaying the posters in school.
